While a job loss isn’t something you rave about, creating a job that’s perfectly fine for now is an accomplishment, albeit simple. But perhaps it’s noteworthy in a climate where job recovery tops news headlines. I’ve resisted the recommendations for small business owners to blog because I saw it as a place to brag, promote my business offerings in a cheesy, outdated sales pitch. I’ve learned some key things about business while exploring new horizons. But what’s more intriguing about this place is branching out into a whole new territory. I’m fascinated by business strategy, long to control my own schedule and am forever curious about the future of media role.
E-video has gained credibility as a viable marketing tool over the past few years, and I’d like to think I was on the cutting edge of that movement. I moved into this new media strategy because I wanted to pay my mortgage and raise my kids in this wintery wonderland and occasional summer land of Minnesota.
What my client’s will repeat is that I’m full of ideas. What I can tell you is that I’d rather be looking toward the future, rather than digging into the past. Like in my profession as a broadcast meteorologist, I was attracted to the riskier side of forecasting and storm chasing, preferred being where the action was, rather than sifting thru numbers analysis of storm history, drafting graphics for air, or case study in academia. So, in finding a fit from the atmosphere to the blogosphere, there is no better time than now to start this blog.
As any good meteorologist will tell you, experience matters. After three years in business for myself, I’ve got the experience to blog with confidence. The specifics I encounter daily may help pave the way for others to chase their own dreams too, tap into the openness of a peaceful skyline. I promise to practice providing value to you, even if it’s a simple “moment of clarity” that keeps us focused on the big picture.
